What is Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus?
Cyber Essentials is an effective UK Government backed scheme that helps you to protect your organisation, whatever its size, against a wide range of the most common cyber attacks. It is industry supported to help organisations defend themselves against the most common cyber threats. It is a set of essential security controls that organisations must implement to protect their systems from the most common cyber threats. The scheme involves implementing security measures such as firewalls, secure device configuration, anti-virus software, and strong passwords. It also involves assessing the organisation‘s risk management practices and security controls.
Why is it important?
The scheme is important because it provides a framework for organisations to protect themselves from cyber threats. It helps organisations to identify and mitigate risk and protect their systems and data from malicious activities. It is designed to encourage businesses & organisations to adopt best practices in cyber security and ensure that their systems are secure and up–to–date. The scheme is a certification that ensures organisations can reduce the risk of being victims of a cyber attack and protect their systems and data from malicious activities.
What is Cyber Essentials Plus?
There are two levels of Cyber Essentials certification. Cyber Essentials ensures you have protection against a wide variety of the most common cyber attacks. This involves a questionnaire examining your security policies to ensure you are protected.
Cyber Essentials Plus still looks at all the security policies for your business, plus a hands-on technical verification is carried out. If you would like to bid for central government contracts which involve handling sensitive information, you will require a Cyber Essentials certification. However, the Cyber Essentials certificate is beneficial to every business and organisation.
At Arc Systems we work with you to go through the whole process and can help with answering questions and assist if you don’t meet requirements.
