Ratcliff & Burridge Construction is a respected UK-based construction company known for delivering high-quality projects across various sectors.  

With a growing workforce and increasingly complex projects, the company understands the importance of keeping its operations running smoothly, both on-site and behind the scenes. 

The challenge

As Ratcliff & Burridge Construction grew, so did the demands on their IT infrastructure. The company had the need for a reliable IT partner who could offer ongoing support while ensuring their systems were secure, efficient, and able to scale with the business.  

Their previous approach to IT was reactive, with general hardware requests and troubleshooting as needed, but they were lacking a more proactive, comprehensive support structure. 

The solution

We worked closely with Ratcliff & Burridge Construction to build a tailored IT support plan that addressed their needs for both short-term support and long-term security. 

Our solution included implementing a Sophos XGS 128 Firewall: a next-generation firewall solution to enhance security and protect the company’s network from external threats.  

We also set up a high-performance, dedicated internet connection via a 200MB leased line to ensure seamless communication and file-sharing across the company. This upgrade improved productivity and reduced downtime caused by connectivity issues. 

Tailored to both individual users and virtual servers, we provided managed backup solutions to protect the company’s critical data. This ensured business continuity in case of hardware failure or data loss. 

To mitigate the risk of phishing attacks, we also delivered Mimecast Awareness Training. This included reports that tracked the company’s performance in phishing protection, helping to identify areas where further training was needed to enhance security awareness among employees. 

We also advised the implementation of Sophos Intercept X Advanced: a comprehensive endpoint protection solution designed to protect the company’s devices from a variety of threats. This included advanced features such as ransomware protection and exploit prevention to safeguard critical business information. 

We also provided Ratcliff & Burridge Construction with necessary Office 365 licenses and ensured that their email, calendar, and document management systems were fully optimised for productivity and collaboration. 

The results

Since working together, Ratcliff & Burridge Construction has seen tangible improvements in both security and IT management efficiency.

The upgraded 200MB leased line has also dramatically improved the company’s connectivity and increased operational efficiency, enabling faster data transfers and better communication across teams. This upgrade has also reduced instances of downtime caused by slow internet speeds. 

With managed backups in place, Ratcliff & Burridge Construction now has greater confidence in their ability to recover from potential data loss incidents. Their critical project data is now securely backed up on a regular basis, ensuring that operations continue without interruption.
